Hi, I’m Josh, an Oakland, CA–based art director, editor, and designer.
I’ve been making quality things in various arenas since first getting my hands on Photoshop in 1995: first, tons of punk rock flyers, posters, and album artwork; later some websites, ad campaigns and a couple of award-winning annual reports; for the past twenty years, illustrated ‘coffee-table books,’ mostly (but not exclusively) for world-renowned publisher Taschen.
Working with (or for) artists from Jello Biafra to Andy Warhol, I’ve collaborated on dozens of signed limited editions, and partnered with self-published artists and pop-culture behemoths like DC Comics, Disney, Marvel and The New York Times.
My favorite part of the job is seeing the project through to print or onscreen, but a close second is getting the opportunity to dive in and learn as much as I can about the subject. I pride myself on being design ‘agnostic’ — the goal is to find out what the project wants to become, and do my best to help make it happen.
